Couple Found Covered In Blood

"HAZELTON, PA — A husband and wife were found dead in their Hazleton home Sunday night, according to city police who continue to investigate the circumstances.

"Officers responded to Rear 805 N. James St. after a call to 911 alerted officials to two people found inside unresponsive and covered in blood. The pair, victims of apparent gunshot wounds, were pronounced dead at the scene by Luzerne County Deputy Coroner John Paletski.

"Deputy Coroner Jeff Stock identified the couple as Wayne Volciak, 55, and his wife, Michelle Volciak, 51.

"Michelle operated a cake and cupcake bakery from the building for multiple years called Michelle’s Creative Cakes, as a faded sign on the side of the building indicates. Monday afternoon a vehicle from Northeast Biohazard Remediation was parked in the driveway as an American flag and a Pennsylvania flag waved in the breeze in the then-quiet neighborhood.

"The Volciaks, Stock said, were found in the same room of the home by their daughter, who called Luzerne County 911, upon finding them Sunday night.

"Though no official time of death has been released yet, the couple died within hours of being found, Stock said. The coroner’s office continues to investigate."
